The Emagine Theater in Novi Now Has the Largest Movie Screen in Michigan!

Emagine Theater in Novi

INTRO
The theater will open to the public at 6 a.m. on Friday. A ribbon-cutting ceremony begins at 9 a.m., followed by the first of several ticketed screenings of “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” at 9:30 a.m. Many of the Super EMAX screenings on opening weekend are sold out. Tickets for matinees are $11 and for events after 6 p.m. are $15. At the Emagine Novi, the film will also be screened on other screens.

Emagine Novi, the largest movie theater in Michigan, just got even better! The state’s largest movie screen previously was the IMAX screen at the Henry Ford in Dearborn. Now, however, Emagine Novi boasts not only this but also their UltraScreen DLX, which has a screen that is over 90 feet wide and more than 30 feet tall! This new screen will feature higher quality pictures and sound than ever before and opens on August 19th! If you haven’t been to Emagine Novi lately (or ever), this is definitely something you should check out!

Outline

The IMAX screen at Henry Ford was previously considered to be Michigan’s largest, but now that distinction goes to a different place. Located at the new Emagine Theater in Novi, patrons will find what is believed to be Michigan’s largest movie screen. The new venue boasts a large 100-foot-wide by 50-foot-tall high-definition laser projection and immersive 3D capacity.

How Big is the Screen?

The Emagine Theater Novi’s screen is now close to 100 feet across—about 14 feet wider than any other movie screen in Michigan. In fact, it’s not far off from being one of the largest screens in America. IMAX is a brand name owned by a Canadian company, but they just started installing their huge screens at Regal Cinemas—and most of those are about 92 to 93 feet wide.

Why Does a Large Screen Matter?

Of course, there’s one major reason why moviegoers are excited about seeing a film on a massive screen: clarity. If you’ve ever seen something projected on a small screen and then watched it again on a large screen, you know that details can get lost (especially if it’s something like an action movie). With crisp visuals and great sound quality, you won’t miss any of your favorite scenes. And don’t worry; the sound isn’t just louder, but also clearer with these big screens. The speakers are right up front and center so that everyone hears every word. No more strained conversations during those moments when someone else is trying to watch a different movie than what you wanted to see.

How Does This Change The Moviegoing Experience?

You’ve likely heard of IMAX—the large-screen movie format that has ushered in a new era of moviegoing. The screen at Emagine is just as big and IMAX as any other theater, but it’s not an IMAX theater. That doesn’t mean it isn’t worth seeing movies on its screen—it absolutely is! But when you see a film at Emagine, you may wonder why it isn’t showing up as one of your available theaters at Fandango or Moviefone.

Where Can I See Movies on This Massive Screen?

The new, 44-foot screen can be seen on all nine of The Emagine Novi’s screens and IMAX. Since it’s a digital projection, you don’t have to worry about missing out. In other words, no matter which screen you sit down for, you’ll see all those extra pixels. If you want to check out some reviews or plot summaries before seeing a movie, take a look at Rotten Tomatoes (link) or IMDB (link). To reserve tickets online (highly recommended), head to Fandango or get your tickets in person from Guest Services.

How Can I Get Tickets?

First, let’s get you to The Emagine Theater: It’s located at 29345 W. 12 Mile Road, in Novi just west of Haggerty Road. There is ample parking and it has a nice lobby where you can enjoy refreshments while waiting for your movie to start. However, here’s where things get a little different: You don’t actually go inside to see any of your movies. The idea is that you buy tickets at their website before going to the show; then you meet your party and walk over to one of their outdoor fireplaces for concessions.

Have Your Say

Is it a good idea for movie theaters to be larger than life? If you go to a big-screen theater, are you more likely to buy snacks and drinks at concession stands? Or does having a massive screen draw you into movies better than smaller ones? Share your thoughts with us below. We’d love to hear what you think about theaters like The Emagine.

Conclusion

The Emagine Novi is a pretty cool movie theater: it has waiter service, harlem car service and reserved seating. The best part? It has a humongous screen that provides some of the best picture quality you can find at any theater. I know – I’ve been to them all across Michigan, and most recently saw Mission Impossible on their humongous screen. Can’t wait for my next visit to see Avengers: Age of Ultron!
