Want a Boho Chic Wardrobe? Check out these must have’s
Boho fashion is among our top fashion trends. However, it’s not easy to achieve. Wouldn’t it be excellent having a basic quick cheat sheet that could assist you in attaining bohemian fashion in a snap?
Even if you think yourself to be a “boho mild” or perhaps a slightly eccentric, this list provides the essentials to create a boho-chic style and the essential pieces you’ll need to increase your wardrobe’s versatility. It’s only a base, and your class will obviously vary by fashion.
Let’s get right into boho style basics:
A Maxi or Midi Skirt
A stunning maxi skirt or mid-length skirt will be one you can repeatedly wear to create cool bohemian outfits.
The most elegant maxi skirts are basic, minimally patterned, and not too bulky since they are easy to create outfits.
- Wear maxi skirts with a solid-colored crop top and a loose sun hat to create a simple and comfortable outdoor outfit.
- A simple maxi skirt can be worn with a graphic tank and a flexible vest. Complete the look by adding heels and the knotted top.
- You can wear it wearing a button-down flannel or chambray shirt. Finish the look with high-end sneakers in a bright shade and vibrant lipstick.
Neutral-Colored Ankle Boots
Beautiful ankle boots are boho fashion essentials. Luckily they come in a myriad of styles.
It’s entirely up to you if you prefer high heels or not. But whatever your preference, ensure that your heel isn’t too narrow or too high, so your shoes will be at ease while you watch concerts or take a walk to class.
Here are a few of my top methods to put on ankle boots
- Put on ankle boots with flared leggings, a loose-knit sweater, a loose-knit sweater, and a hippie-style headpiece for a perfect look for an evening or a casual date.
- Ankle boots are excellent with skirts and dresses! Opt for more fitted footwear when you wear maxi skirts; however, the shorter your skirt is, the more clunker you can make your boots!
Hairbands and chic head wraps
Hippie-style babe Vanessa Hudgens might not have invented the headband; however, she contributed to its rise in popularity!
I began by wearing a thin, hippie-style headband, but I’ve now moved to more flamboyant cloth designs. Bonus points to brave enough to wear an asymmetrical flower crown.
I enjoy wearing my headwraps. You can purchase a six-pack of patterns (above left) for less than $16!
Here are some fun ways to wear these:
- Wrap headbands look gorgeous over your forehead, but I like wearing them backward. Put them back about an inch or two beyond my hairline, like a halo. This is an excellent method to wear a headwrap when the elastic is too tight to wear across your forehead. Cloth styles look fantastic as well!
- Hairbands can be a great option to add style and glamour to your hairstyle that’s not your best.
- Make your hair more textured before wearing it —
A Unique Maxi Dress
We all owe a big “thank to you” to the 2000s-era Olsen’s for creating Maxi dresses so popular. I love everything with a print pattern, but the lace detail is just as gorgeous. You don’t want to get too simple, and try to find geometric or nature-inspired prints to earn extra points!
- Dress in a maxi printed dress with big jewelry and wedge sandals to create a perfect look for a romantic date.
- Try using a printed denim vest with a maxi to make it more casual.
- You can add a worn-in sweater to make the dress an A-line skirt. Then, finish the look with booties for the ankles.
Leather (or Faux Leather) Sandals
Boho Leather sandals are genuinely a blessing. They’re the ideal choice for any occasion that requires warm weather. They’re comfortable and lightweight, yet they’re still elegant and stylish.
- Choose simple designs to put on and take off for maximum flexibility. Nothing is more frustrating than a pair that takes you five minutes to put off and on!
- However, strappy lace-up sandals are an essential statement piece and look gorgeous with denim shorts and flowing, off-the-shoulder tops.
- Birkenstocks are boho-chic classics. Not just are they extremely comfortable, but they last for a long time and improve with time.
A Slouchy knit Cardigans and Sweaters
Cardigans, as well as sweaters, are essential for any fashion style. However, choose frilly, lacy knit, and slightly slouchy models to create a bohemian look.
They are great for layering and lightweight to wear throughout the winter, autumn and spring. The best part about this piece is that it’s available the perfect version at every one of your favorite stores.
Here are some ways I prefer wearing open-knit sweaters, cardigans, and sweaters:
- Try wearing a tank top with an oversized crocheted sweater, a pair of bell-bottoms, and high-heeled ankle booties to create a quick and simple outfit that will make Stevie Nicks jealous. You can pair them with a headband and handbag.
- Consider wearing a chunky sweater with a graphic tee and a mini skirt to create a stylish and layered style. Wear it with sparkle tights, footwear, and a broad-brim cap.
- A slouchy sweater can be worn on your shoulders with an adorable bralette beneath. Add wide-leg jeans with ripped edges, leather mules, and, in true boho fashion, gigantic sunglasses.
A Wide-Brim Hat or Fedora
You don’t need to spend a lot of money on expensive large brim caps as I’ve discovered that high-end models don’t maintain their shape as well as those that are less expensive. This way, you’ll be able to afford an additional one each season.
- A simple straw sun hat paired with sundress sandals and oversized sunglasses is the ideal summer outfit for fairs, walks in your park, picnics, and much more.
- A loose-brimmed felt hat gives a perfect bohemian look to any winter or autumn outfit. You can pair it with skinny black jeans that have been ripped and the slouchy (#6) sweater and pointed-toe mules.
- Put it on with the mom jeans, a long sweater, a white t-shirt, or Birks, and make it a day.
Crop Tops or Breezy, loose Tanks
Strappy, breezy easy tops are among the first items that come to mind as I consider bohemian styles.
While adorable little crop tops are a rage these days, comfy loose cami tops (see the above crocheted one) are an attractive alternative if you want more coverage for your belly button. The look is about things that are easy and easy and a look that would be at home at a beach.
The embroidered tops are great for this! Look at any retro or vintage stores near you for unique and funky designs.
- If bright patterns or embroidery isn’t to your style, opt for a plain white tank or crop top. You can add frayed denim cutoffs and a loose cardigan, and you’ll be good to go.
- They will always look amazing with an outfit with high-waisted jeans, platform shoes, and natural jewelry.
- Put on your most-loved tops with the maxi skirt, a scarf, sandals, and a pair of oversized sunglasses.
- These tops must be worn with gold-plated jewelry and a (faux) tanning session during the summertime.
Eye-catching, colorful prints
For a fun look to your style, Nothing can beat the striking look of a bright, vibrant printed piece.
This category encompasses all types of clothing and prices. Consider the piece you’ll wear most often and the amount you’re willing to invest before you decide to go for it!
- Wear a graphic wrapped maxi-dress with a broad high-brim fedora, sandals with strappy straps, and a couple of layered necklaces for a chic summer style.
- Kimono-style printed cover-ups are returning with a vengeance, and I am a sucker for one with a quirky print. You can wear one with ripped mom jeans and an (#8) cute crop top.
- Learn from your most loved TikTok stars and experiment with a tie-dye gown. Tie-dye prints are so boho elegant! It will look amazing with a pair of platform sandals and (#10) massive sunglasses.
A hippie-chic purse
If you like distressed cloth, leather, small suede cross-body, or an oversized hobo bag, having a sturdy and trustworthy bohemian bag is crucial to tie your ensemble together.
- Bags for the cross-body are great because they free your hands. This is particularly useful during events or concerts! A pretty, frilly small to the medium-sized suitcase is perfect for this. I also love neutral shades generally for these; browns and beige are gorgeous!
- Another popular trend with the boho-style crowd is fashionable round bags of rattan. These are all over the place and are an excellent way to bring an earthy element into your style.
- The classic Canvas sling bag is and will always be essential for earthy women. It’s a different way to incorporate an eye-catching, vibrant print into a simple outfit.
A Versatile Vest
Vests are fantastic because they can add the perfect pop to all items in your closet.
Use it with floral mini-dresses, simple maxi dresses, or a simple t-shirt and cutoffs. The options are limitless!
- Jeans vests are an excellent match for everything you have in your closet. Wear one with a plain V-neck t-shirt and a maxi skirt and sandals. Complete the look with an (#3) hippie headband.
- Even though they are very hippie-chic, vests with fringe could also be perceived as a bit sexy when worn with other boho accessories. To avoid appearing over-the-top, you can wear the fringe vest with a simple black dress or skinny jeans with an oversized t-shirt.
Flared Jeans
Remember your favorite jeans circa 2004? My jeans are well over the line of fitting me. However, just a few years ago, I could not help but lust for the lean, long legs and elastic body that skinny jeans gave me!
High-waisted, premium versions are a must for a boho look.
- Flared denim can be a means that is capable of making certain kinds of shoes look fantastic. My absolute favorite pair of shoes for bell bottoms is a set of high-heeled boots. Bell bottoms look great with the platform, flat sandals, or wedges sandals.
- Wear flared jeans with a crocheted sweater and huge colorful scarves. Then tie it up with a top knot and a (#14) massive set of sunglasses.
- It’s possible that this is not in an exemplary fashion. However, I’m going to go ahead and admit it: I do enjoy the style of wearing dresses and jeans! The trick to making it look chic and not too sexy is to wear short-length tunics that aren’t cute around the hem. Add a touch of style by wearing platform sandals and a Boho-inspired cross-body bag.
